Hispanic Children Songs from a Kodaly Perspective

Part of the Teacher Education Series series

Overview:

In this hands-on course, participants will learn repertoire, activities, and ideas for lesson planning that incorporate Hispanic children’s songs and rhymes.

Learning Objective:

The songs and rhymes learned during the course will be explored from the Kodály perspective, and are appropriate for children in kindergarten through 6th grade.

Participants will also learn basic principles for the research, collection, and analysis of children’s songs, as well as organization of the songs in a system that would allow teachers to  retrieve the songs at any given time according to a particular pedagogical need.

There will be a particular emphasis on the musical and extra-musical characteristics found in the repertoire of Hispanic children’s song. Participants will receive one (1) graduate credit hour.
