Leading Total Quality
Part of the Operations Improvement Series seriesOverview:How many "Quality" programs have been introduced with a blaze of fanfare; have been promoted by senior management; started off teams all over the organization, and then slowly, but surely, died or became objects of scorn? The "vision" of quality improvement becomes bogged down in structural and procedural barriers. There are improvements in one area, failures in another.
Leading Total Quality is a program for leaders who want their quality programs to be broad and long-lasting. The program addresses why many quality programs don't work, by examining the groundwork that needs to be in place for a quality endeavor to be successful.
This interactive program is based on our instructor’s personal experience in quality improvement programs, leadership at all levels, and organizational development. During the sessions, participants will:
-
Review the historical progression of the quality movement and assess where perceptions and interpretations made many original ideas unworkable;
-
Develop an understanding of the theories and tools of quality, and how they can best be utilized for successful implementation;
-
Learn to work with a team to develop a shared mental image of quality, and use it to focus an organizational vision;
-
Utilize systems thinking to assess and understand why previous change efforts have stalled or failed;
-
Understand how the underlying structure of an organization determines the path of quality improvement;
-
Understand how organizations are shaped and how they move work the same way.
