Martin A. Preizler

Martin Preizler, President and CEO of Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation, since 1998, has a comprehensive background of health insurance and managed care experience and knowledge. At Physicians Plus, a $350 million corporation in Madison, WI, he is responsible for all strategy and operations providing health insurance to over 103,000 customers in 20 counties. He received his B.S. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1967 and an M.A. in Public Policy from the University of Wisconsin-LaFollette Institute in 1986. He also received an M.S.W. in Public Welfare Administration in 1970 from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. 

Prior to joining Physicians Plus, Mr. Preizler served as President and Chief Executive Officer of PACC Health Plans in Clackamas, Oregon from 1994 to 1998. In late 1997, PACC merged with QualMed Oregon, (a Foundation Health Systems subsidiary). Mr. Preizler was appointed President and CEO of the resulting 180,000 member insurance company until coming to Physicians Plus. Preizler also served in various executive leadership capacities at Health Partners (formerly MedCenters Health Plan) in Minneapolis, MN from 1988 to 1994.

Mr. Preizler’s background also includes serving as the Administrator of the University of Wisconsin’s physician Clinical Practice Plan and Executive Director at University Health Care (now Unity Health Plan) from 1983-1988. He was the Director of the Bureau of Healthcare Financing (Medicaid Program) at the Department of Health and Social Services, Madison, Wisconsin between 1977 and 1983. Mr. Preizler’s additional experience in budget, policy and management analysis contribute to his extensive knowledge. Mr. Preizler was also a Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award national examiner in 2006 and a judge for the Wisconsin Forward Award.

Mr. Preizler resides in Madison, Wisconsin with his wife, Lynn and dog Chloe. He and Lynn have three children, Jon of New York City, David of Los Angeles and Julie of Chicago. Marty and Lynn also are proud grandparents of Natalie and Seth.
